NO PET POLICY
Although a great deal of time is usually spent with prospective and new Members of our Co-op reviewing the policy regarding having NO PETS on the premises, we often find we must charge the $75.00 fine to that Member shortly after they move in, because, for some reason, they thought that "just once, for a short time" won't matter.
We wish to reiterate here in writing the strong stand that has been taken by all Boards of your Co-op for many years regarding NO PETS. Below are excerpts from a notice published to Co-op residents November 11, 1981:
As per the 1979 ruling by the Board of Directors;
- Management has been instructed to enforce the NO PET clause on a strict basis, and to continue the capture and removal from the premises of any and all animals running loose.
- By Board Resolution, should the NO PET policy be violated, penalty for the first notice of violation will be $75.00. Should a second notice be required, the member will be required to vacate their unit.
- By Board Resolution, no Member is permitted to "baby-sit" another person's pet for any length of time.
As with any policy set by the Board of Directors, (who are elected by the Co-op Membership to set policy), if the Members living in Scottsdale East Homes do not agree with the policy as stated, they may present their opinions to the Board. Should one-fourth (71) of the Membership state they feel the policy should be altered in some way, the Board will review the subject again. To date, the majority of the Membership of Scottsdale East Homes has concurred with this ruling on not allowing any pets on the property at any time.
Should you have a visitor arrive with a cat or dog, the animal must either remain in the visitor's auto, or be taken to a shelter during the term of your guests stay with you. We wish to remind you, however, of the Arizona State law prohibiting leaving an animal or child in an auto during the extreme heat of our summers!
Again, this policy is STRICKTLY ENFORCED whether the cat or dog is in your unit (or restrained near your unit) for less than an hour, or the whole day.
We trust this reminder will help avoid the unpleasantness of a confrontation when a new Member might be tempted to think, "Oh, it's just a puppy, and one time won't matter." IT MOST DEFINITELY MATTERS! To the tune of $75.00, or possible eviction.
